Seep

Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 October 2026

This policy applies to all information collected or submitted through the Seep apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, and the seep.app website. Seep is made by Jasvir Singh Cheema, trading as Needle Apps, in Australia ("we", "us").

Information we collect

Accounts

Games against the computer don't need an account. For online play, Seep creates an account anonymously, without an email address or password. It has a random account ID and username. To sign you back in, the app keeps an identifier for your install and sign-in tokens on your device, and sends the identifier to our server.

Game Center and Google Play Games

If you're signed in to Game Center (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play Games (Android), Seep links your player ID from that service to your account, so you keep the same account on a new device or after reinstalling. Seep also uses your player name from that service as your Seep name until you choose your own.

Profile and online games

We store your display name and the avatar you choose from Seep's built-in set. Seep doesn't ask for photos, contacts, your real name or your location.

To run online games, our server receives every move. It keeps the results: wins, losses, scores, seeps called, your rating and tier, and your leaderboard places.

We also keep a record of each finished online game, with its moves and the players' ratings, to improve Seep's computer players. In these records, account IDs are replaced by a keyed hash, so a record doesn't say who played it.

Technical basics

Like most apps and websites, our servers and Cloudflare, which carries connections to them, log technical details of each request, such as your IP address and the time.

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. Get Help in the app starts the email with your device model, operating system and Seep version; you can delete them before sending.

Seep has no chat, and we don't send promotional emails.

Ads and analytics

Seep uses Google Firebase Analytics to count what happens in the app, such as which screens are opened, games started and finished, game modes, and how long games take. It records an app-instance ID, your device model, operating system, app version, and an approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address. Firebase Crashlytics sends a report when the app crashes, with technical details of the crash and your device.

Until you leave a tip, Seep shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob can fill them itself or from its partner ad networks Unity Ads, InMobi and Meta Audience Network, whose software is built into Seep for this. To choose and measure ads, AdMob and these networks collect information such as your IP address, an approximate location derived from it, device details and your interactions with ads, and may use your device's advertising ID, including to personalise ads. On iPhone and iPad, the advertising ID is only available if you allow tracking when Seep asks.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Seep asks for your consent to these uses before showing ads, using Google's consent message, and passes your choices on to the ad networks.

Tips are paid through the App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of the purchase, never your card or payment details.

Every page on seep.app uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits, including the rules, news and help pages shown inside the app. It records the pages you view, your browser or device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.

Information that stays on your device

Games against the computer and their history, your settings, and which news you've read are saved only on your device.

Information usage

We use the information we collect to run online play (matchmaking, private rooms, ratings, leaderboards and rematches), to keep your account across devices, to fix crashes and improve Seep, to show ads that pay for its development, to answer your emails, and to prevent cheating and abuse.

We don't sell your personal information. We don't share it with outside parties except the service providers below, to the extent needed to run Seep.

We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics, such as how many games are played each day.

We may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding cheating, fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service; or to protect the rights and safety of our players.

If Seep is sold or merged with another business, player information may be among the transferred assets, and it will remain subject to this policy.

What other players see

Players you meet online, and anyone viewing a leaderboard, can see your display name, avatar, tier and rating, your online results, and your leaderboard places. They never see your Game Center or Google account itself, only the name you play under.

Service providers

These companies process information on our behalf to run Seep:

Security

Connections between Seep and our servers are encrypted, and access to our systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Accessing, changing, or deleting information

You can change your display name and avatar on your Profile in the app.

You can delete your online account in the app under Settings → Delete account. Your account, profile, stats, rating and leaderboard places are deleted straight away. If you can't use the app, see seep.app/delete-account. Deleted information may remain in our encrypted database backups for up to 30 days. Records of finished games are kept to improve the computer players; once your account is deleted, they can no longer be linked to you.

To get a copy of the information we hold about you, or to correct it, email [email protected].

Usage statistics and crash reports are kept for the periods set in Firebase, after which Google deletes them. Server logs are kept for a short time, for troubleshooting and security.

We may delete information or accounts at any time, for example to remove offensive names, or if an account is used to cheat or abuse the service.

Ads and tracking choices

Children

Seep isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them, in line with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe a child under 13 has an online account, email us and we'll delete it.

Your rights where you live

Australia

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you're unhappy with how we've handled a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland

We process your information to provide online play you've asked for, for our legitimate interests in keeping Seep secure, fair and working (including analytics and crash reports), and with your consent where the law requires it. You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your information, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

California

We comply with the California Online Privacy Protection Act and the California Consumer Privacy Act. You can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, and we won't treat you differently for asking. We don't sell personal information for money, but when AdMob or its partner ad networks use your advertising ID to personalise ads, that may count as "sharing" under California law. To opt out, use the ad settings above or leave a tip. We don't knowingly share the information of anyone under 16.

International transfers

Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from yours. Where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
